We’re thrilled to announce that the Missouri S&T Mars Rover Design Team has placed 1st overall at the 2025 University Rover Challenge (URC) — reclaiming our title as world champions!
Out of 114 teams from 15 countries, only 38 finalists were selected to compete at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. After four days of rigorous tasks, our rover came out on top — a testament to the innovation, grit, and collaboration of every member of the team.
About the Competition
The University Rover Challenge is the world’s premier robotics competition for university students developing next-generation Mars rovers. Teams are evaluated across a series of demanding tasks, including:
- Autonomous navigation
- Science-driven field sampling
- Extreme retrieval and delivery
- Equipment servicing and manipulation
A Global Stage
URC 2025 welcomed teams from all over the world:
- 114 teams applied from 15 countries
- 38 teams were selected as finalists, representing 10 nations
- Missouri S&T proudly stood at the top of this elite group
